Applicants wanted for co-opted membership of the Partnership Board

Posted on: 11 March 2019

West Yorkshire and Harrogate Health and Care Partnership are establishing a new Partnership Board and we are seeking four co-opted Members to attend board meetings and take part in relevant patient and public involvement networks.

The Board will be responsible for setting out the direction of travel and providing oversight for all Partnership business. This includes making decisions together around the following areas of work:

  • How we spend our additional transformation funding to best improve services
  • Priorities for capital investment, such as buildings
  • Operation of any shared NHS financial risk management mechanism
  • Agreeing action when health care systems become distressed.

The Partnership Board has no formal delegated powers from the organisations in the Partnership. However, over time our expectation is that national bodies, such as NHS England and NHS Improvement will become less involved in the Partnership’s work. This will be achieved by building agreement with leaders across partner organisations to drive forward a shared direction of travel.

The Partnership Board will be made up of the Chairs and Chief Executives from all NHS organisations, elected member Chairs of Health and Wellbeing Boards, one other elected member, and chief executives from councils and senior representatives of other relevant partner organisations.

Apply to become a co-opted Member of the Partnership Board

The West Yorkshire and Harrogate Health and Care Partnership is committed to ensuring that public and patient voices are at the centre of shaping our healthcare services. Any plans or proposal need to be informed by listening to those who use and care about our services.

Role, responsibilities and skills

The role will involve taking part in four partnership board meetings each year, as well as taking part in other relevant patient and public involvement networks across the Partnership as appropriate. Please note the Board meetings will be held in public and filmed.
Co-opted member representation will bring important views, and challenge into the Partnership’s work. These roles are essential in championing a public, service user, patient and/or carer/family viewpoint, ensuring that people’s needs are met through work programmes and ensuring good and effective processes are followed.
